Caste system was the fundamental for our society.

Originally castes were more like occupations. Shudra was the equivalent of what we call a sweeper now a days . Warriors were known as Kshatriyas. It wasn't necessary for a person to have the same caste as their parents.

Later our society started considering certain jobs more “superior” than the others. And the children had to have the same caste as their ancestors. This eventually lead to economic difference among various castes and the situation changed for the worse. So.... They introduced the caste system  in our society
