Once upon a time is a free verse poem that causes on the father's attitude to culture change and times past , before the incoming of western culture that affected the nature African way of life .

In the peom ,father address the son, telling him in a rather nostalgic manner how things uses to be . People were different back then more genuire it seemed and that is what the speaker would like to do now return to a restored world . Thus the title (Once upon a time)
