why do you think the poet refers to the daffodils as golden

The poet William Wordsworth refers to the daffodils as golden because of two reasons one of which is very obvious and the other one is metaphorical.  As the color of the flowers is yellow, the poet calls them golden. Secondly, the poet considers them invaluable as they live for only a short time and during that time they spread joy which is incredible. For him, the sight of the daffodils dancing sprightly is as dear as gold.
