why do you think the young sher singh's father is called sher singh bahadur ? (journey by night by norah burke)

Sher Singh Bahadur has such a name because of the various courageous acts performed by him. For instance he would fight tigers with his bare hands. Even though a snake bit him he burned the wound. He had a scar all down his back because of the Tiger. His face was also scarred. Added to that once we walked a long distance just with his "dhoti" tied around his waist to prevent everything from falling. Hence the villagers gave him this name.
