why doctor dips thermomter in a liquid before use

so that it should come to lowest temp. otherwise it will show the wrong reading as thermometer will attain room temp.

To reduce the temperature of the thermometer below room temperature and to clean it well, as well as sanitize it
to make the thermometers temperature normal otherwise it will acquire the wrong temoerature
