the coin placed on the cardboard will fall down into the tumbler because of Newton's first law which says that any object will keep on in uniform motion or in rest until and unless external forces added upon it .It is because we can simply say this is due to inertia of rest as the coin is in rest when the cardboard is flicked out the coin remains to be in rest and falls into the tumbler
