Question :-

Why does a current carrying conductor experience a force in a magnetic field ?

Answer :-

A current carrying conductor has its own magnetic field. This is specially called magnetic effects of electric current .

Therefore , the magnetic field generated by the current has its own magnetic field lines.

Now when the conductor is placed in a magnetic field,  it experiences either repulsion or attraction due to different magnetic field lines of force .

Actually the magnetic field of conductor and the field in which the conductor is placed causes repulsion or attraction in the conductor.

This results in a force that is responsible for motion in the conductor.
