the rule is right thumb hand rule. it experiences force because the magnetic field gets deflected.

The deflection depends on number of factors like :-
1) intensity of current..
2) direction of current...
3) strength of magnetic field..
4) length of the conductor..
5)distance between the piles of conductor..
we can determine the direction of force by applying Fleming's Left hand rule simply...
