When a current-carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field the wire experiences a force due to the interaction between the field and the magnetic field produced by the moving charges in the wire. That is why the conductor experiences a force.

It is because a current carrying conductor itsefl has magnetic field around it. So when this current carrying conductor is kept under a magnetic field, it reacts with the external magnetic field causing continuous attraction and repulsion. This attraction and repulsion cause force between the current arrying conductor and the magnetic field when the current carrying conductor is kept in it.
