Why does a doctor advice advise to put strips on the wet cloth on the forehead?

It is physics as well as biology too.
See fever is sudden increase or decrease in temperature (commonly it increases) and the molecules of our body gains very high amount of heat.
There for when we put a wet cloth strips on our head, the water which need to be evaporate takes some heat from the surrounding molecules there for a cooling effect is produced which leads in the depletion of the fever.

When a person has fever his body temperature becomes more than the normal body temperature. If we put strips of wet cloth on the forehead of a person suffering from high fever, the water evaporates taking heat from the body, creating a cooling effect. Thus, moist strips will lower his body temperature.
