Why does a fish die when it is taken out of water

as the fish is taken out of water the supply of oxygen to fish is cut as the fish cannot breathe the oxygen present in the atmosphere .

The fish breathe through gills,the water contains some dissolved oxygen in it .The WATER ENTERS THE FISH THROUGH ITS MOUTH and the dissolved oxygen will be taken in and carbon dioxide is given out through gills and thus the fish can breathe in water

As the gills cannot absorb the oxygen present in the atmosphere the fish willdie when it is taken out of water
