as the fish is taken out of water the supply of oxygen to fish is cut as the fish cannot breathe the oxygen present in the atmosphere .
The fish breathe through gills, the water contains some dissolved oxygen in it .The WATER ENTERS THE FISH THROUGH ITS MOUTH and the dissolved oxygen will be taken in and carbon dioxide is given out through gills and thus the fish can breathe in water
As the gills cannot absorb the oxygen present in the atmosphere the fish willdie when it is taken out of water

Hey mate here is your answer.
Fishes show bronchial respiration in which oxygen is derived from water. The fishes cannot use gaseous oxygen so they die when taken out of water.
