why does a goldsmiths use the outermost zone of the candle for melting gold and silver

This is so because outermost zone is the zone of complete combustion and is the hottest part in candle flame for melting gold and silver.

the outermost layer is the hottest layer and is therefore suitable for melting gold and silver
