Why does a gun recoil back when it is being fired?

Answer:

It is due to the spring present inside the gun and due to Newton's third law.

For an action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

This happens also due to conservation of momentum.

Thus the gun comes back with the same velocity with which the bullet was fired.
