a man matchstick burn on rubbing it in the side of the match box because this part of the match box contain Phosphorus which react easily at less temperature only it burns and the matchsticks and why made up of phosphorus and sodium so it both are more reactive sudden increase in temperature make them to light

when a matchstick is rubber against the wall of the matchbox , friction is generated which causes increase of temperature of that area and due to increase in temperature the material sticked on the matchstick reaches its ignition point and hence the matchstick lights up
