●The law states that for every action, there is an equal reaction in the opposite direction. Holding the gun tightly on the shoulder helps to absorb most of the force generated by the recoil allowing the shooter to steady his shot and also to remain standing.

Because of Newton's third law of motion i. e. every action have a equal and opposite reaction which acts on two different bodies. If the person not hold the gun tightly then he have a injury on his shoulder.
