The rays of light on travelling from one medium to another bends because of the density of the medium. For example, when light enters from a less dense to a more denser medium, eg. from air to glass, it bends towards the normal. In contrast, when a light enters from a denser to a lighter medium, eg. glass to air, it bends away from the normal.
