Why does a spoon appear to be broken or bent when placed in a glass of water ?

it appears because of refraction the density of water is more than that of the air the density of water 8s 2.25 and of air is 2 so this density changes some more examples r if we put pencil in water

due to refractive index as water is more denser than air so when light comes from your eyes to denser medium spoon looks like bent..
