An aerobic respiration takes place in the muscles of the sportsman during running when oxygen gets used up faster in the muscle cell that can be supplied by the blood. When an aerobic respiration takes place in sprotman muscles, then glucose (food) is converted to lactic acid with the release of small amount of energy. The sudden build up of lactic acid in muscles causes muscular cramps.
