Explanation:

As we know that ph value is inversely proportional to the hydronium ion concentration i.e hydrogen ions. Now NH3 has 3 atoms of hydrogen or 3 hydrogen ions but KOH has only one hydrogen ion. Therefore NH3 has a higher ph value

Answer: NH₃ has lower pH value than KOH at equal concentration because of its less basic nature.

Explanation:

NH₃ is a covalent compound and does not furnishes ions in a solution.

Its basic nature is due to the lone pair present on Nitrogen.

It can donate its lone pair to H⁺ ion and form NH₄⁺ (ammonium ion).

Its basic nature is because of ability to accept H⁺ ions.

On the other hand, KOH is a highly ionic compound.

It furnishes K⁺ and OH⁻ ions in solution very quickly.

KOH is a strong base as it readily gives OH⁻ ions.

Therefore, because of the less basic nature of NH₃ its pH is lower as compared to KOH when both are in equal concentration.
