why does baking soda makes cake soft and spongy. How are baking doda and baking powder are different?

baking soda when added with cake make frothy does Vicky and soft and spongy I don't think there is a very big difference between baking soda and baking powder hope this answer is satisfying and I get a brainlest

Baking Powder: Baking powder is a mixture of baking soda and a mild edible acid.

Chemical reaction: When baking powder is heated or mixed in water,CO2 is produced.This Carbon dioxide causes bread or cake to rise making soft and spongy.
