Why does bleaching powder smell strongly of chlorine?

it smell chlorine in air because there is chlorine in the bleaching powder and it is in powdering form when exposed to air it becomes wet because air is moist so it smell out activating the smell of chlorine.

When exposed to air, bleaching powdergives a smell of chlorine. This is because bleaching powder reacts with carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to produce calcium carbonate andchlorine gas.
