why does cactus desert plant loose very little amount of water during transpiration?

They loose very little water because in the course of evolution their leaves modified into thorns so resulting in very less transpiration.

because it does not have leaves.. it's leaves are converted into spines to reduce the amount of water during transpiration. this is a adaptation of cactus
