Why does carbon not form C ⁴+ or C ⁴-

since carbon is tetra valent in nature it does not gain or lose ion so therefore it share it's ion to fulfill it's shell for example CH4 (methane) here hydrogen valency is 1 thus carbon share it's atom with 4 hydrogen so therefore carbon cannot be C⁴+ or c⁴-
