In China the Gezhouba Dam displaced more than 20 000 and the Dienjangkou dam over 383 000 people. In Brazil, the Sobradinho and the Itaparica reservoirs dislocated 65 000 and 40 000 people, respectively. In the building of the Three Gorges Dam in China over a million people will be relocated.
