derry's mother does not want him to go back to visit Mr lamb because derry's mother has heard of many rumours about Mr lamb. she also thoughts that he was a crazy person. also they have not lived there more just for 3 months hence she do not know him properly.

all these reasons made derry's mother to stop her child to go back to Mr lamb.
