Why does english not have a word for shadenfreuden?

English actually doesn't have numerous words for words that exist in other languages as it is that either the word would have gone unused or that there was no point in making it up.  But, if I am not wrong, as I do happen to speak a bit German, the word means the take pleasure in seeing others fail or be humiliated. The only similar word to it in English that I can think of is a Malicious joy.
