Food items are a source of various nutrients to our body by which energy is produced in our body which is needed by us for doing our various chores. Now, we see that everybody likes to eat delicious food items. Whether it be ice cream or spicy pepper salad or it be lemonade, every food item has its own aroma or scent within it. For example, when we see a chocolate cake, the aroma reaches our noses which sends impulses to our brain and our brain intercepts this information to our mouth. People have often said that their mouth 'waters' when they see delicious food. This is actually when in our mouth when the salivary glands produces specific juices which is a sign to us that the food item is edible and we rush to eat it. But, when one has a running nose, the passage for the scent to enter our nose is blocked and so the brain is unable to make any idea of the food and so it appears to be tasteless.
