Here is your answer

The movement of water and dissolved minerals in xylem is always upward from the soil to the leaves. The movement of food can be upward as well as downward depending upon the need of plants. Phloem transports food and certain other solutes from the sites of production (sources) to the site of utilization (sink).

HEY MATE!!

THE FOOD(STARCH) IS PREPARED BY THE LEAF BY UTILISING SUNLIGHT WATER CARBON DIOXIDE AND CHLOROPHYLL PRESENT IN THEM ...THIS PROCESS IS CALLED PHOTOSYNTHESIS. ..SO THE PREPARED FOOD SHOULD BE TRANSPORTED TO EACH AND EVERY CELL OF PLANT BODY SO TO PERFORM THIS TASK PHLOEM WHICH IS A PART OF VASCULAR BUNDLE IS NEEDED..IF THE PHLOEM IS NOT PRESENT THE UPPER PART OF PLANT WILL BE HEALTHY WHEREAS THE LOWER PART DO NOT GET FOOD(STARCH) AND MAY LEADS TO THE MALFUNCTION..

HOPE U LIKE IT....IF YES MARK AS BRAINLIEST
