Why does half of the Earth experience daylight, while the other half experience night? And what is the direction of rotation of the sun?

As Earth is round, and Sun is at the middle of the solar system, due to gravitational force, the sun attracts Earth, for which the Earth rotates in it's orbit, with a constant radius between Earth and Sun. So one half gets the sun's rays and experiences daytime, while the alternating half, not getting sun's rays, experience night. And Sun rotates from East to West
