Inert gases have their completely filled valence shell with octet of electrons. So they have 0 valency and thus non reactive in nature thus placed in Zero Group.

Inert gas has completely filled outer electronic configuration and has no valance Electrons in outermost shell They have no effect of air water acid and noble metals they do not react at all there may be some exceptions hence they are placed in zero group
