When a crystal of LiCl is heated in an atmosphere of Li vapour.............................. the Li atoms lose electron to form Li +ions. The released electrons diffuse into the crystal and occupy anionic sites (F-centres).
These electronsimpart pink colour to the LiCl crystal.
