Lord Ullin was against his daughter marrying a man whom he did not approve of. But the beautiful girl who was very much in love with the chief of Ulva's island decided to follow her heart and elope with her lover. The lovers were very much aware that unless they cross the lake they will be caught and in that event the man will be brutally murdered in order to free the girl. So, even when confronted with a terrible storm, they decided to brave it. They had known that the lord's men were close behind them and once they are caught, they will be separated for life. Since she considered it better to face the storm than her angry father, she decided to continue the journey with her lover, in spite of the storm.
