why does Meghalaya get more rainfall

Due to its windward location of khasi hills and due to its unique funnel shaped topography

So when this wind enters meghalaya it first visit cherrapunji and because of these three hills most of the wind carrying moisture gets trapped inside and because of which they burst in cherrapunji making it the wettest place on earth, and some of this rain eventually escapes these and travels to shillong and burst.
