why does NaOH act as antacid.

Sodium Hydroxide is a Alkali (base) which neutralise the acids so it is said to be a Antacid.

NaOH sodium hydroxide is alkaline in nature that is it is not acidic hence it helps to cure acidity but generally it is not used as an antacid because it is a very strong Base it is too caustic and can cause chemical burns in mouth and throat.
