Gold(Au) is placed below hydrogen in the reactivity series as we know. Therefore, it cannot lose electrons to hydrogen ions of the acid called dilute hydrochloric acid. Hydrogen gas is not evolved when gold reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid. As we know that gold is also known as Auram.
