Why does one get hurt on jumping from a great height to the floor?
Answers
One get hurt on jumping from a great height to the floor because according to the third law of motion, every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction, therefore when the persons jumps on the floor and applies a force on it,(action) the floor obeying the law, applies an equal amount of force on his body(reaction) which might hurt him.
the force from a person jumps on the surface is equal to the force from which he get hurt. The newton's third law of motion states there is equal and opposite reaction for any action.
another reason:
Jumping from a higher height means that you achieve a higher velocity before landing, hence you have a larger downward momentum at the moment of landing. The moment you land, your momentum has to change to zero in an instant.
Newton’s 2nd law states that the force applied is proportional to the rate of change of momentum. Since the amount of time taken to get rid of the momentum is the same in both cases and you have more momentum to get rid of when you jump from a higher height, more force is required to bring you to rest if you jump from a higher height.
