Why does Patol Babu's wife tell him that he is counting his chickens before they've hatched??? Please explain properly and quickly...

because Patil is being overconfident that he will surely hatch all of the chickens,but hatching chicken is not a game,it's a bit tough work,so counting after they are hatched would be better.

"Counting chickens before they hatch" means daydreaming and fantasizing about something that is yet to happen.
Patol Babu was building castles in the air when he got to know that he was supposed to act the following day. He broke the news to his wife.
He was telling her about how a wonderful actor he'd been in his days. He recalled his first part as a dead soldier.
He was thought that this role (the role which Nishikanto Ghosh gave him) was the first step to ladder of fame and wealth. He was expecting some great rewards.
That's when his wife told him those words. He was day dreaming.
