Blood is divided into PLASMA and FORMED ELEMENTS. The former is straw-colored, and the latter is red because it contains hemoglobin.

Plasma is the straw-colored liquid portion of blood that contains water, proteins, salts, nutrients, hormones, and metabolic wastes. It does not have any pigment cells to give it a colour. The RBCs of blood contain hemoglobin which is responsible for giving red color to blood.
