River water is less dense than sea water . the volume of water displaced by the ship in river water is less than the volume of water displaced in sea water ie the buoyant force for sea water is more than river water
so ship sink more in river water as compared to sea water
so ship sink more in river water as compared to sea water

The density of sea water is more than that of river water thus there is a greater buoyant force in sea water. Therefore a ship sinks more in river water than in sea water
