Answer: Shylock wishes to take Antonio's flesh because Shylock is pure Jewish and Antonio is a christian and Shylock hates Christians. Secondly, both are rich merchants so they are competitors and Antonio is more prosperous than Shylock so Shylock is very much jealous of Antonio and additionally Shylock is bad person. So as Shylock got the chance he took advantage of Antonio's problem.
