Silk is natural protein fibre.
Wool is fibrous protein.
The fiber is almost pure cellulose.
Silk and wool are made up of protein molecules; therefore, when we burn them, they create "burning-hair" smell [Note: Silk and wool are "ANIMAL" products]. However, cotton is made up of pure "carbohydrate"; therefore, when we burn it, it creates "burning-paper" smell [Note: Cotton is a "PLANT" product].
Note: Paper is made from "cellulose" (a typical product of plants!). Cellulose is a carbohydrate. Cotton consists of pure carbohydrate!
