Sodium chloride has a high meltingand boiling point. There are strong electrostatic attractions between the positive and negative ions, and it takes a lot of heat energy to overcome them. Ionic substances all have high meltingand boiling points.

Hi friend,

Here is your answer,

Sodium chloride has high melting point because it consists of ionic bonding. In ionic bonding the force of attraction is very high and it takes a lot of energy to overcome this force.
