A solid changes into liquid by the process of melting. When the solid is heated, its temperature increases. The kinetic energy of its particles will also increases and they will starts vibrating about their positions. The forces of attraction between particles is overcome by the heat, the particles leave their position and start moving about randomly. At this stage the solid melts and gets converted to liquid..
