why does some liquid medicine kept in dark coloured bottles​

Some chemicals in the medicines may be photosensitive meaning that they break down when exposed to light(Decomposition Reaction). So in order to protect it , they are stored in coloured dark bottles. 
But a note is always written on such bottle “do not expose to direct sunlight, keep it in cool and dry place”.
