why does temperature of a substance remain constant during melting and boiling even when heat is being supplied ti it continuesly

it is because the heat involved in change of state is latent heat which is hidden heat so it can't be measured

scientificaly, actually their is a change in temperature while conversion but it is in a range of million of second in that time all the extra heat energy is transformed into latent heat of fusion and latent heat of vaporizationand therefore temperature remain constant.
