Mate it is because generally during day time the cloud cover in air is less so more sound can be heard during day

during night generally more cloud cover is there which prevent much sound to be heard

pitch of sound might reduce at night because of noise abatement procedure. Aircrafts are advised to reduce noise while taking off at due to less engine power setting that usual .They are allowed to fly higher at night to reduce the amount of noise of aircrafts
