The author quotes Margret Thatcher and Lester Brown to make the readers aware of the environmental degradation of our planet and our responsibility to take care of it.

Margret Thatcher said, “No generation has a freehold on this earth. All we have is a life tenancy — with a full repairing lease”.

Mr. Lester Brown said, “We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children.”

Both the quotes mean almost the same. Both the personalities are appealing to the people of the world to care of the health of our planet and treat it respectfully so that it can be bequeathed to the coming generations in good condition.

The author quoted the two statements in the support of his perspective, as there is a need to protect the environment.

The two statements lay the stress on the preservation of the environment and it is about holding it in trust for the next coming generations.

In her words “No generation has a freehold on this earth. All we have is a life tenancy- with a full repairing lease.”
