Hey!!!!
Toto was very mischevious. He caused many destructions like he broke a large dish and ate whole pulav, one day he was almost to boil himself and on the very first day he tore Ruskin's blaser and the destroyed wallpapers. So, the author says that Toto was not a sort of pet they could keep for long and could not tolerate the loss anymore.

The author said that toto was not the sort of PET we could keep for long because he was very mischievous and kept destroying things at home. they think that it is too expensive to keep toto in home as he tear all curtain, clothes ,even destroyed plates and teases all animals and then grandfather found the tonga driver and sold toto back to him for only 3 rupees.
Hope it helps u...
