Why does the blue colour of copper sulphate solution fade and finally becomes light green when Iron nails are placed in it?

✔The blue colour of copper sulphate is due to the presence of copper ions.

✔When copper ions come in contact with iron the iron donates two electrons to form iron ions.

✔The electrons donated by Iron are accepted by copper ions to form copper atoms, which settle down.

✔As the copper ions are gradually removed from copper sulphate solution, therefore the blue colour fades.

✔With increase of iron ions the light green colour appears in the solution.
